Stephanie Ball, the Democratic candidate for St. Joseph County Clerk, had state income tax warrants filed against her in back-to-back years, according to state tax warrant records.
The Indiana Department of Revenue filed the first warrant June 28, 2022, for $147.70 in unpaid 2021 individual income tax, penalties, interest, and fees. The Indiana Department of Revenue filed the second warrant on Sept. 6, 2023, for $310.01 tied to 2022.
Indiana issues a tax warrant after a taxpayer fails to pay or protest a bill and then fails to respond to a demand notice. Once filed with the county clerk, the warrant becomes a judgment lien and a public record.
In 2024, Ball also had a default judgment of $5,628.05 entered against her in St. Joseph Circuit Court in a collection case brought by Midland Credit Management Inc. Redress South Bend first reported that judgment in July.
Ball did not return a call seeking comment.
