SOUTH BEND, Ind. (April 2nd, 2026) St. Joseph County officials reported unauthorized access involving an account connected to an external fax service used by the county, according to a press release.
The county said the fax service operates separately from its internal network and that there is no evidence at this time that internal systems or county services have been affected.
“We are actively investigating to determine what information, if any, may have been involved,” officials said in the release.
“At this point, there is no indication of any disruption to County operations,” the release states.
Officials said the county is working with federal and state partners to assess the situation and maintain system security.
The county said it will provide updates as more information becomes available.
