Redress South Bend – In a significant development for South Bend's educational landscape, Rise Up Academy has been recognized for its exemplary accomplishments under the leadership of Principal Francois Bayingana. This alternative high school, dedicated to providing under-credited students with an opportunity for academic success, has consistently demonstrated outstanding results.
Rise Up Academy's innovative curriculum, characterized by project-based learning and a supportive environment, has garnered attention not only for its unique approach but also for its impressive graduation rates. With the backing of the South Bend Community School Corporation, the academy achieved its highest graduation rate to date, surpassing 91% during the 2023-2024 academic year. This milestone positions Rise Up Academy as a leader among alternative schools in Indiana.
The school's success story is further amplified by the recent award of a $3 million Next Generation School Improvement Grant. This substantial funding is set to be utilized over the next three years to implement an Extended Learning Program, aimed at enhancing the educational experiences of its students and further increasing their chances of success.
Principal Francois Bayingana, along with his dedicated team, has cultivated a restorative atmosphere within the school. This ethos not only restores students' confidence but also fosters a belief in the adults around them, creating a nurturing environment for personal and academic growth. "Our motto says rise up, release the past, embrace the present, and soar into the future. This guides everything we do. Our support staff have also gone the extra mile conducting our visits and meeting one -on -one with students." - Principal Francois Bayingana
