For Immediate Release
Sharon McBride's Actions: A Continuing Abuse of Power by South Bend Democrats
To the residents of St. Joseph County and all concerned parties,
It is with a heavy heart and resolute determination that I, Tim Cotton, address the serious allegations against Sharon McBride, the current President of the City of South Bend's Common Council. These allegations are not merely administrative oversights or minor infractions; they strike at the very heart of our democratic principles and the rule of law.
Election Integrity and Fraud
Sharon McBride's alleged improper candidacy and residency violations are a direct assault on the integrity of our electoral system. Admitting under oath that she has not resided in District 3 for the past four years, while continuing to run and vote as if she did, is a blatant act of election fraud. This misconduct erodes public trust and undermines the legitimacy of our representative government.
Financial Impropriety and Legal Compliance
Furthermore, McBride has allegedly drawn a salary under false pretenses, claiming to represent a district she does not reside in. This is not just a breach of trust; it is a misappropriation of taxpayer funds. Her actions, if proven true, demand immediate redress, including her removal from office and restitution of the ill-gotten funds.
Tax and Mortgage Fraud
The allegations extend to potential tax fraud, with McBride claiming a homestead exemption on a property she has not lived in for years. Additionally, she is accused of violating mortgage terms by refinancing a property under false conditions. Such actions, if verified, highlight a disturbing pattern of deceit and exploitation for personal gain.
Conflict of Interest
There is also a troubling potential conflict of interest involving her association with Notre Dame Federal Credit Union, which approved her questionable mortgage refinance and subsequently employed her. This raises serious questions about preferential treatment and the influence of political power over fair lending practices.
Call to Action
These allegations are not just an indictment of Sharon McBride but a call to action for all who value transparency, accountability, and the rule of law. We cannot allow individuals in positions of power to manipulate the system for personal gain. It is imperative that an independent investigation be conducted to ascertain the full extent of these violations and to take appropriate legal and administrative action.
Our Commitment
As Libertarians, we stand firm in our commitment to uphold the principles of minimal government intervention, personal responsibility, and the Non-Aggression Principle (NAP). McBride's alleged actions represent a gross violation of these principles. We believe in a government that respects the rights of individuals and operates with integrity and transparency.
This is yet another instance of Democrats in South Bend exploiting their power and position for personal gain, profiting at the expense of hardworking taxpayers. McBride's actions are a betrayal not only to the members of the St. Joseph Democrat Party but also to those who voted for them. This pattern of decay within the party is evident, and public trust in them is rightfully waning.
We urge all residents to abandon political leaders who exploit taxpayers for their own personal gains. Join the Libertarian Party of Indiana and the St. Joseph Libertarian Party to help become masters of your own destiny and to hold our leaders to the same standards they expect of us. We welcome independents, third-party members, Democrats, and Republicans who want to affect change. Together, let's make South Bend, St. Joseph County, and Indiana better for all Hoosiers.
Respectfully,
Tim Cotton
County Chair, St Joseph Libertarian Party
