BREAKING: Probate Judge Jason Cichowicz Sues Former Councilman Henry Davis Jr Over South Bend Tribune Article.

Breaking

South Bend, IN (Redress South Bend) – Jason Cichowicz, St. Joseph County Judge of Probate Court, has initiated a lawsuit against former South Bend Common Councilman Henry Davis Jr. The legal action stems from remarks made by Henry Davis Jr. during an October 1, 2024, press conference held outside the Juvenile Justice Center. The lawsuit cites, "This is a defamation case."

Details of the case emerged after the South Bend Tribune published an article on October 2, 2024, titled "St. Joseph County GOP, Henry Davis Jr. criticize Probate Court Judge Cichowicz." The lawsuit included this statement: "[Henry] Davis, a former child support case worker, said it’s 'foul' that someone who 'stole money' to give to the JJC will use the same standards to make judgments over families and children." Cichowicz is demanding a jury trial in St Joseph County, the same county where he is the Judge of Probate Court.

My Personal Opinion Protected By The Indiana & United States Constitution (So Jason Cichowicz Cannot Sue Me Too)

On October 1st, 2024, former Councilman Henry Davis Jr., members of the St. Joseph County Republican Party, and concerned citizens hosted a press conference outside the Juvenile Justice Center, demonstrating a united front. During the event, Republican Party leadership announced they were contributing $3,500, using personal funds, toward the funeral expenses of Isaiah Walton-Davis, a 20-year-old tragically shot by 18-year-old Cyjarron Odynski. Odynski, a participant in the JJC's "Bridge Link Program," had escaped supervision during a South Bend Cubs game to commit the shooting. At the press conference, the Republican Party members and Councilman Davis called for the resignation of Judge Jason Cichowicz, criticizing the perceived failure of the Bridge Link Program. Breaking with party lines, Councilman Henry Davis Jr., an African-American community leader fighting for justice for Isaiah, endorsed Cichowicz' Republican challenger, Loris Zappia. On Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, at the press conference outside the Juvenile Justice Center, Henry Davis Jr. declared his stance as a political adversary of Judge Jason Cichowicz. Just two days later, Cichowicz filed what many view as a baseless lawsuit against former Councilman Davis. This raises a crucial question for the public: is it appropriate for someone like Jason Cichowicz, a judge, to initiate lawsuits against former City Council members for their public remarks? Would you trust Cichowicz to decide your court case after he just filed what many would consider a frivolous lawsuit? In my personal opinion, Jason Cichowicz has repeatedly demonstrated a deficiency in decency, etiquette, and decorum, along with a concerning lack of fundamental morals.

Consequently, as of today, October 3rd, 2024, I am endorsing Loris Zappia for Judge of Probate Court. Should Jason Cichowicz take legal action against me now, it will further illustrate a troubling pattern of suing those who support his political rivals.
