BREAKING: Jason Cichowicz, Judge of Probate Court, Receives Post Conviction Relief on 23 Year Old Reckless Driving Charges.

Background

On March 23, 2001, Jason Cichowicz was arrested and charged with reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, as seen in Case 53C05-0103-CM-01395. The case progressed to August 9, 2001, when Cichowicz opted for a plea bargain. He pled guilty to a reduced charge of reckless driving, initially resulting in a 180-day sentence in Monroe County jail. However, instead of additional jail time, Cichowicz was granted 6 months of supervised probation coupled with a requirement of 49 hours of public restitution, recognizing the time he had already served. The plea bargain also led to the dismissal of the operating while intoxicated charge.

Recent Developments

Fast forward to September 10, 2024. This case resurfaces when Jason Cichowicz filed a "Petition for Post-Conviction Relief," (Case 53C05-2409-PC-002312) two decades after the initial proceedings. The petition was granted on September 25, 2024, thereby vacating his 2001 conviction.

Such timing raised eyebrows given the ongoing general election, leading some to speculate about the motives behind this legal action. Just days after filing for relief, Cichowicz pursued a separate lawsuit against former Common Councilman Henry Davis Jr., sparked by comments Davis made during a press conference on October 1st. These events have caused speculations as to whether there may be more concerns or even more blood shed tied to the "Bridge Link Program." Stay tuned for updates!
