In a spirited press conference held this morning at the GOP Headquarters, St. Joseph County Commissioner Derek Dieter laid out a bold plan to visit all 224 precincts in just 100 days. “I’m going to all 224 precincts in 100 days,” Commissioner Derek Dieter declared confidently, demonstrating his commitment to engaging with constituents across the county.
Commissioner Derek Dieter revealed that his interest in the County Surveyor position was sparked during his tenure on the County Drainage Board, where he gained valuable insights into his potential new role. The County Surveyor serves as an "EX-Officio member" of the County Drainage Board. If elected as County Surveyor, Commissioner Derek Dieter would be able to continue serving on the County Drainage Board.
Discussing his 100-day initiative, Commissioner Derek Dieter emphasized the importance of community involvement. “You get to be out in the community, which I really like to do...and help people firsthand,” he said, underscoring his desire to meet residents and address their concerns directly.
Commissioner Derek Dieter also took the opportunity to clarify the responsibilities of a County Surveyor, outlining the qualifications necessary to hold the office and differentiating between the roles of an elected County Surveyor and a private surveyor. His initiative is poised to not only strengthen his campaign but also enhance public understanding of the crucial work involved in County surveying and why he believes he would be the best individual for the job.
